India vs Pakistan: Mohinder Amarnath expects India to beat Pakistan

New Delhi: Indian Former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath expects India to beat Pakistan in their blockbuster ICC World Cup 2015 opener at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Though they have a stronger ODI record against India, Pakistan have never been able to beat the defending champions in five World Cup contests to till date, the last of which came four years ago in the semi-final at Mohali India.

“There is not much more difference between the two asian teams. Both have good individual best players but I will go with the records. India has always done and played well against Pakistan in all World Cup matches. But incase if India wins this time, it will be because of their batting and not their bowling,” Amarnath told INDIANS on the sidelines of a Royal Stag Perfect Strokes in the event.

Which is interestingly, this will be India’s first World Cup fixture against Pakistan which will not feature batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who retired from One-Day Internationals (ODI) in 2012. Sachin Tendulkar, who has been roped in as the ICC World Cup 2015 ambassador and he played in all India matches against their arch-rivals in the 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2011 editions of the mega event World cup.

Sachin Tendulkar has been a great player but every player has to retire and you can’t get a replacement of his place anywhere. Particularly Not only him but players like Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, V.V.S. Laxman, Yuvraj Singh are irreplaceable,” added Amarnath, who was man-of-the-series during India’s 1983 World Cup triumph victory.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Pakistan Cricket Board unhappy with Mohammad Hafeez’s comments

Mohammad Hafeez’
Mohammad Hafeez’
Karachi 2015:  The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is really not happy with the comments made by experienced all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez regarding ICC World Cup 2015 but he has decided to ignore the issue because of the 50 over match.
He said, “We just don’t understand what these players really want. Mohammad Hafeez knows very clearly what is written in his medical report yet he went and made some unwarranted comments to the pak media".

He said, medical reports on Hafeez had stated clearly that he required atleast three weeks to recover from his body injury and that there was no guarantee he would remain 100 percent fit in the World Cup 2015.

“After that he has claimed he would have been fit in 10 to 12 days. This is Rubbish. We are ignoring this matter but we will have a little quiet word with him because of the World Cup and we don’t want any unnecessary controversies,” the official media said.

I got injured on February 3 2015 while our match against India is on February 15, so I would have regained my fitness soon. But the touring management called me and told me that they have asked for my replacement for me,” Hafeez said.

Top Cricketers Not in the World Cup 2015 Squad

Top Cricketers Not in the World Cup 2015 Squad :

Yuvraj Singh (India): Yuvi was India’s best player in the 2007 World Twenty20 and the 2011 World Cup, and he was the man of the tournament of the World Cup 2011. But after that his form had declined since then, and he failed to make a mark when it was time to pick the World Cup team squad. But it must have been tough leaving out a once high-impact top player, but it was a pragmatic call by Indian team selectors.

Yuvraj Singh (India):

Gautam Gambhir (India): He was the top run scored for India in the finals of the World Twenty20 and World Cup, and his contribution to his team’s rise in all types of formats in the Gary Kirsten era was immense.

Gautam Gambhir (India):

Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo (West Indies): A set of two top players boycotted the tour of India. They are Pollard and Bravo were among them. They both has now been left out of the World Cup squad 2015. Chief selector Clive Lloyd said, insists of they were dropped for their poor performance only.

Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo (West Indies):

Alastair Cook (England): He was the The former England ODI captain and now he is in out. His extraordinarily poor form with the bat—no hundreds in the last 45 innings, one fifty in the last five series and coupled with England’s horror run in ODIs.No series wins over a major team since June 2012,So the selectors doesn't choose him.

Alastair Cook (England):

Nathan Lyon (Australia): He was the off-spinner troubled India a great deal in the recent Test series and he picked up 23 wickets. But his form with one-day cricket has been brief, and he wasn’t experienced enough to merit a place to go ahead of the more experienced Xavier Doherty.

Nathan Lyon (Australia):

Shoaib Malik (Pakistan): This Was it as a 2011 headline repeated by mistake in think? But the fact is No. The former Pakistan captain was left out again for the 2015 World Cup, right now when he is in the prime of his life. He is one of Pakistan’s key cricketers of the last decade, Malik will have to wait longer for another track at the World Cup 2015.

Shoaib Malik (Pakistan):

Murali Vijay (India): he performed well to his recent tours to South Africa, England and Australia, India’s Test opener displayed discipline in stroke-play and staying power in the crease rarely seen from an Indian batsman since the heady years of Rahul Dravid. Being he is in-form batsman with 482 runs in the Tests against Australia team, Vijay could have made the team in place of the struggling Shikhar Dhawan.

Murali Vijay (India):
